A Selma business has been awarded a contract to install a new generator at the Town of Smithfield Operations Center on Hospital Road.
Public Utilities Director Ted Credle said $60,000 was budgeted this year for the purchase of a new 80kW generator. The contract was awarded in February under the budgeted amount.
McClung’s Electric of Selma was the low bidder on the project at $46,000, which includes installation.
Cummins Sales and Service in Kenly bid $70,350. Gregory Poole Equipment, a Caterpillar dealer, bid $43,570 but the price did not include installation.
