WAKE COUNTY- A $3 million contract awarded by the N.C. Department of Transportation recently that will bring improvements to a portion of N.C. 231, from U.S. 64 Business to the Wake-Johnston County line, and other roads in Wake County.
The contract includes milling, resurfacing, and shoulder reconstruction to approximately 17 miles throughout the county, including sections of these roads:
- Riley Hill Road from Rolesville Road to Lizard Lick Road
- North Smithfield Road from U.S. 64 to Forestville Road
- Old Battle Bridge Road from Tarboro Road to Leo Minor Lane
The contractor, Carolina Sunrock LLC, can start as soon as May and complete the project by late fall 2025.
