Corinth Holders High Student, Teacher Recognized For Financial Literacy Work

WENDELL, N.C. – A Corinth Holders High School student and teacher have received statewide recognition for their involvement in a new financial literacy program launched by the N.C. Department of State Treasurer.

Junior Ben Kozloff and Career and Technical Education teacher John Allen participated in the department’s Cash Club initiative, with Corinth Holders becoming one of the first high schools in North Carolina to host a recruitment event for the program.

Cash Club is designed to teach students practical financial skills, including budgeting, saving, credit, investing, scholarships and everyday financial decision-making.

The initiative builds on the State Treasurer’s Finance Fridays resources and provides participating schools with lesson plans, activities, discussion questions, quizzes and information about scholarship opportunities.

Schools can also use the program to connect students with guest speakers and other financial education resources.

Kozloff’s involvement extended beyond the school program. He was selected for an internship with the State Treasurer’s office and was featured in the department’s monthly newsletter.

Corinth Holders Principal Melissa Hurst said the work by Kozloff and Allen has helped expand financial education opportunities for students.

“We are proud of Mr. Allen and Ben for the way they have represented Corinth Holders High through their leadership and participation in the Cash Club initiative,” Hurst said.

She said the program gives students practical experience that can help prepare them for college, careers and life after high school.
