Just past noon today (Monday), a passing squall line brought heavy rain and wind—and, left several motor vehicle accidents in its wake.
At least three accidents were reported on US 70 in Johnston County at about the same time.
The most serious accident blocked both eastbound lanes after the driver of a Corvette lost control and struck the guardrail, scattering car parts over a wide area.
Another minor accident occurred directly across the median in the westbound lanes.
There were no serious injuries.
US 70 eastbound was shut down for about 30 minutes before a single lane was opened.
