BENSON – A dump truck carrying a load of gravel overturned this afternoon (Monday) near Benson. The single vehicle accident was reported on Highway 242 North near Tarheel Road.
The truck was traveling southbound when it ran off the roadway to the right, overcorrected and ran off the roadway on the left overturning in a group of trees.
The driver sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
The NC Highway Patrol investigated the crash. The Elevation Fire Department responded and assisted with traffic control.
