A Smithfield nightclub has received approval from town leaders to expand their business to include mixed drinks.
Tuesday night the Smithfield Town Council signed off on a plan to allow the Saddle Up Saloon, a private club, located at 113 North Brightleaf Boulevard to expand the business to include mixed drinks by the glass without prepared food service. Linda M. Caulder is the new owner of the club, which is the former home to Betty’s Bar.
“Saddle Up Saloon is a bar that is going to attract a mature clientele with a rustic atmosphere with no intentions of being a ‘club’ atmosphere,” Caulder wrote in her application.
In approving the request, the Town will require all customer parking to be at the rear of the business and must included a paved parking lot with 30 parking spaces. The Smithfield Planning Department had previously approved the request at their March meeting.
The business has already registered as a private club with the ABC Commission to allow for the mixed beverage license in addition to its existing malt beverage and wine license.
