Two Smithfield businesses unknowingly accepted counterfeit money from customers on Tuesday.
Smithfield Police said two counterfeit $20 bills were passed at Little Caesars Pizza at 1202 N. Brightleaf Boulevard.
A short time later, police took a report of a counterfeit $10 bill being passed at the Food Lion at 851 W. Market Street.
Police Captain R. Sheppard said the two cases do not appear to be related.
