A Selma couple is charged with child abuse after allegedly leaving their 18 month old infant unattended in their van while they went inside Wal-Mart.
It happened last Friday. Police were called to the parking lot of Wal-Mart by a concerned citizen after they reportedly saw the baby inside the vehicle. Police Captain R. Sheppard said officers don’t know exactly how long the child had been left alone.
Sheppard said the couple told officers they had gone inside Wal-Mart to cash a check and had left the baby asleep in their car.
Benito Moctezuma Andres, 31, and Margarita Helen Loredo, 25, of the 1200 block of N. Pollock Street, Selma were cited for child abuse and released at the scene.
