A single vehicle accident Monday afternoon snarled eastbound I-40 traffic in Johnston County. The driver of a small Subaru reported another motorist pulled in front of him around the 313 mile marker, then unexpectedly slammed on the brakes.
When the Subaru driver slowed and swerved to avoid an accident, another driver reportedly sideswiped his car, sending him spinning into the construction barriers. The other drivers did not stop.
No injuries were reported.
The Cleveland Fire Department stood by and assisted with traffic control while the NC Highway Patrol investigated the accident.
