A pickup truck struck a utility pole near Smithfield Wednesday afternoon downing the power and power lines.
The accident happened at 12:36pm on US 301 just south of Galilee Road.
No one was transported to the hospital, but the accident caused significant traffic delays. Duke Energy sent a crew to the scene to replace the downed utility pole and power lines.
Smithfield Police are investigating the accident.
