SMITHFIELD – An elderly driver was injured in a single vehicle accident around Noon today near Smithfield. The accident occurred on Brogden Road.
A 79 year-old driver was headed westbound on Brogden Road towards Smithfield when she ran off the roadway to the right, struck a ditch and overturned. She sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital by Johnston County EMS.
There were no other occupants in the vehicle. No charges will be filed according to investigating Trooper C.E. Summerlin.
