Cybercriminals were able to hack into the computer system for a Johnston County hotel this week. They made away with a large sum of money.
The theft was discovered Monday by personnel at the Sleep Inn at 105 Commerce Parkway in the Cleveland community.
According to the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office, hackers were able to gain access to the hotel computer network and withdraw $39,354.10 in funds. The money was issued as “refunds” to numerous credit card accounts the hackers controlled.
