Deputies Arrest Woman After Suspicious Activity Reported In Bentonville Area

FOUR OAKS, N.C. — A Craven County woman is facing an attempted breaking and entering charge after deputies say she was found in the backyard of a Four Oaks home holding a power tool and claiming she was looking for storage space.

Brittany Annette Lee, 36, of Cove City, was arrested May 2 and held under a $500 bond, according to the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident occurred around 1 p.m. on Harper House Road in the Bentonville community, when a 63-year-old homeowner returned and noticed a blue pickup truck parked in the backyard.

Deputies say the homeowner then encountered Lee on the property holding a drill. According to authorities, Lee told the resident she was searching for a place to store belongings.

Law enforcement responded to the scene and took Lee into custody on a misdemeanor charge of attempted breaking and entering.

No property was reported stolen or damaged.

  1. Petty crimes are to be expected, just the same as major ones should be…its when I see the ages of the people commiting them though.. 😬 I’m glad the current administration is entertaining more emphasis on asylums and committing the mentally unwell rather than “clogging” our already overburdened CJS!

  2. Lucky Lady , could have definitely have went another way, folks in the country don’t generally tolerate thieves ! To say petty crimes are expected ? What planet are you from ? Don’t be looking a break at my house, I promise I’m not going to be very understanding when you’ve got tools or weapons and no business there.
