Deputy Captures Dirt Bike Rider Following Chase Near Clayton

CLAYTON, N.C. — A Clayton man is facing multiple charges after Johnston County deputies said he led them on a pursuit on a dirt bike before attempting to escape on foot.

Kinyron Qualin Foster, 20, was arrested June 20 and charged with felony fleeing to elude arrest, reckless driving to endanger, failure to register or display a license plate, failure to burn a motorcycle headlamp, and failure to wear a safety helmet.

According to the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy observed two dirt bike riders weaving through traffic and operating recklessly on N.C. 42 about two miles east of Clayton around 9:54 p.m.

The deputy attempted to stop the riders, but both reportedly accelerated and fled. Authorities said the dirt bikes reached speeds of approximately 60 mph during the pursuit.

Officers said Foster eventually stopped his dirt bike and attempted to flee on foot. After a brief chase, deputies were able to take him into custody.

The operator of the second dirt bike was not apprehended and remains unidentified.

Foster was transported to the Johnston County Detention Center, where he was charged and later given a $10,000 secured bond. Jail records indicate he was released from custody on June 22.

Anyone with information on the identity of the second suspect is urged to contact the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office. The investigation remains ongoing.
