Smithfield-Selma High School (SSS) has named Deron Donald as the new Head Football Coach of the Spartans.
Mr. Donald is originally from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Most recently he served as the E.E. Smith Golden Bulls Head Coach from 2016-2019 in Cumberland County. During that time, he took the team to two state playoffs in a very competitive PAC 9 conference with the likes of Southview High School and Terry Stanford. In 2017 they were 9-4 and played for the conference title game against Terry Sanford.
Coach Donald has been coaching for 15 years between Cumberland County Schools and Pompano Beach Florida. Coach Donald played Collegiate football at Fayetteville State University where he graduated with a Bachelors of Arts degree in May 2005. He went on to earn a Masters in Special Education in 2010.
Coach Donald is married, and he and his wife have four adult children. Coach Donald has served as a motivational speaker in the Fayetteville community, is a board member of Life Changing Mentoring, and is an Elder and Board Leader at Chosen Remnant Ministries.
Mr. Donald and the SSS High School community are excited about the possibilities going forward.
