District Attorney To Review Fatal Shooting Involving Brothers

JOHNSTON COUNTY – The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal shooting involving two brothers at a home in northern Johnston County.

Deputies responded around 4:59 p.m. Sunday to Sunny Dale Drive near Middlesex, off Friendship Church Road.

First responders performed lifesaving measures, but 47-year-old Brian Demuro died at the scene.

Authorities said Demuro’s brother had gone to the home to visit their 77-year-old mother, who was staying at the residence with Brian Demuro.

Investigators said a physical altercation occurred between the brothers.

During the altercation, Brian Demuro reportedly attempted to produce a firearm, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said the other brother then produced a gun and fatally shot Demuro.

The surviving brother remained at the scene and has cooperated with investigators, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

No charges have been filed.

Once the investigation is completed, the Sheriff’s Office will forward its findings to the Johnston County District Attorney’s Office, which will determine whether any charges are warranted.
