Dr. Jim Causby has been named the interim superintendent of the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools. The Chapel Hill-Carrboro School Board selected Dr. Causby during a meeting Thursday night.
He will begin his duties on July 1st replacing Superintendent Pam Baldwin who announced in mid-April she was resigning effective June 30th.
Dr. Causby had served as interim of the district from August 2016 to March 2017. He told Johnston County Report today, “I am honored and pleased to be asked to return to Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools as interim superintendent. CHCCS is among the best school systems in our nation and offers an exciting challenge during our current COVID-19 pandemic.”
Dr. Causby was hired on September 3, 2019 as interim superintendent of Johnston County Public Schools. He resigned on January 10, 2020. Previously, he served as superintendent of Johnston County Schools from 1994 to 2004. He has been a superintendent a total of 26 years and has been named superintendent of the year three times.
