FOUR OAKS – Highway 210 near Four Oaks was closed for more than an hour following a serious traffic accident. The crash was reported around 5:30pm Saturday, in the 8700 block of Highway 210 near Lakewood Road.
A Honda passenger car reportedly traveling eastbound, ran off the roadway in a curve, struck at least two trees and overturned.
The driver, the only occupant in the car, was severely pinned.
Four Oaks Fire extricated the driver who was immediately taken to a Duke Life Flight helicopter that had landed on Highway 210. The victim was airlifted to the trauma center at WakeMed. There was no immediate report on the condition of the driver.
Johnston County sheriff’s deputies diverted traffic around the crash site for more than an hour.
The State Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the accident.
