JOHNSTON COUNTY – A driver led law enforcement officers on a lengthy chase Saturday morning through southern Johnston County.
It started around 3:00am when Johnston County deputies responded to Interstate 95 to locate an erratic driver reported by a 911 caller. When officers attempted to pull over the Ford pickup, the driver refused to stop.
The driver reportedly reached speeds as high as 90 miles per hour. The chase exited off Interstate 95 in Four Oaks and onto several rural roadways before continuing onto Interstate 40 and then I-95 south into Benson.
Deputies were able to deploy stop sticks deflating a front tire on the truck but the driver continued until running off an embankment in Benson. He tried to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended, with the assistance of Benson, Dunn, and Four Oaks police officers.
Dam Mike, bro, you’re not good at this. Be a good person again. We miss that Mike
