FOUR OAKS – The State Highway Patrol has cited a motorist on several charges including driving while impaired following a single vehicle accident May 25 at 7:36pm on Stewart Road near Holly Road.
Troopers said Dakota Blaze Horton, age 23, of Garner was traveling south on Stewart Road in a 2018 Hyundai passenger car when he lost control in a curve. The car traveled off the roadway to the left, struck a ditch, and overturned twice in a field.
According to an accident report, Horton was traveling at 55 mph in a 55 mph zone on Stewart Road when he lost control. The vehicle left 204 feet of tire impressions before impact with the ditch, then traveled an additional 217 feet before coming to rest upright.
Horton and a passenger, Tiffanie Tyner, age 42, of Dunn were transported by Johnston County EMS to WakeMed with non-life threatening injuries.
Trooper D.M. Gray cited Horton for DWI, reckless driving, no insurance, failure to wear a seat belt, and revoked registration. Tyner, the passenger, was cited for failure to wear a seat belt.
Damaged to the uninsured Hyundai was estimated at $12,000.
The Four Oaks Fire Department also responded to the accident.
