Teen Driver Killed In Johnston County Crash

CLAYTON – A teenage driver was killed in a violent two-vehicle crash in Johnston County, near the Wake County line.The collision was reported at 3:34pm Saturday on Cornwallis Road, north of Atkinson Farm Road.

The State Highway Parol said a red Toyota Celica, driven by a 17 year-old female, was traveling south when it hydroplaned in the rain, ran off the roadway to the right, overcorrected, and crossed the centerline. The passenger side of the Toyota struck a white Chevy Impala that was traveling north on Cornwallis Road.

The 17 year-old driver died at the scene.

The driver of the Chevrolet, a young woman, and her two small children, were transported to Wake Medical Center in Raleigh with non-life threatening injuries.

The name of the 17 year-old driver was not released due to her age.

  1. This is sad and prayers for the entire family. She must have been a new driver and did not handle the rain. PLEASE KIDS, SLOW DOWN! PLEASE! When it rains, slow down. The idea is to get to where you are going safe. Again, prayers for the family.

      • Never went 5 over. I guess I was strange but I was also FDNY and seen to many kids die! So Every time I see a sad story like this I plead to kids to slow down! Don’t make me a bad guy for caring about out youth.
