The Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal wreck Saturday morning east of Smithfield. The single vehicle accident occurred on Brogden Road.
Troopers said the driver of a white BMW ran off the roadway and struck a driveway culvert causing the car to flip end-over-end landing upside down in a yard.
The driver, whose identity was not immediately released, was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected. Authorities believe speed may have played a contributing factor. Photos by John Payne
