ARCHER LODGE, N.C. — Authorities have identified the driver killed in a dump truck crash Wednesday morning in Johnston County.

According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, troopers were dispatched at approximately 8:59 a.m. on April 1 to a single-vehicle rollover in the 8800 block of Covered Bridge Road near Jensen Drive.

A preliminary investigation indicates the dump truck was traveling east when it ran off the right side of the roadway. The driver then overcorrected, causing the truck to cross the roadway, leave the left side, and overturn. The impact was severe enough to separate the dump body from the truck, which came to rest on top of the chassis.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers identified the driver as Christopher Deon Archible, 59, of Raleigh.

The dump truck is owned by Bobby Hardee Maintenance and Landscaping of Clayton.

The crash remains under investigation.
