ANGIER – The State Highway Patrol is investigating a single vehicle crash that claimed one life. The accident was reported just before 5:00pm Wednesday in the 3900 block of Old Fairground Road.
A BMW ran off the roadway and collided with a tree. The driver, the only occupant, died at the scene. The name of the victim was not immediately released.
The West Johnston Fire Department, Johnston County EMS, State Highway Patrol and Johnston County Medical Examiner responded.
This is the second fatal crash in three weeks on Old Fairground Road. A fatal head-on collision April 26 a short distance away killed two people.
