PRINCETON – A dump truck driver was seriously injured Wednesday after being pinned underneath an overturned truck. The single vehicle accident happened about 1:30pm on Richardson Bridge Road off Brogden Road near the Johnston-Wayne County line.
According to the State Highway Patrol, the fully loaded dump truck carrying sand lost control on Richardson Bridge Road and drove off the roadway and overturned. The driver was ejected out the front windshield and pinned beneath the large truck.
Rescuers were able to extricate the victim and rush him to Wake Med with serious injuries. There were no other injuries.
Richardson Bridge Road was shut down for over three hours before reopening.
The accident remains under investigation.
