Police are still trying to figure out how two cars, both without drivers, collided in the parking lot of Wal-Mart in Smithfield on Thursday.
A Four Oaks man told Smithfield Police he had parked his Isuzu SUV and went inside to assist his mother obtain medication. At the same time a Kenly man said he left his Kia SUV in the parking lot to go inside Wal-Mart prior to classes.
Police responded to the accident and had to locate both drivers by calling out the vehicle descriptions over the store intercom. Officers reviewed video surveillance footage from the parking lot but it did not capture the crash.
Both cars sustained about $500 each in damage. No charges were filed.
