Drug Investigation Leads to Arrest Of Smithfield Man

SMITHFIELD, N.C. — A narcotics investigation led to the execution of a search warrant at a Smithfield-area home and the arrest of a 39-year-old man on multiple drug charges.

On June 30, the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division executed a search warrant at a residence at 72 Old Mallard Road near Smithfield.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the search warrant stemmed from an investigation into the alleged distribution and use of illegal narcotics at the residence.

During the search, agents located suspected fentanyl and drug paraphernalia.

The suspect, Patrick Jared Crocker, 39, was not at the home when deputies executed the warrant. Authorities later located Crocker in Smithfield and took him into custody without incident.

Crocker was charged with felony maintaining a vehicle or dwelling for a controlled substance, felony possession of a controlled substance, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was confined in the Johnston County Detention Center under a $20,000 secured bond.
