Several homes and businesses were without power for a few hours Tuesday morning after a dump truck knocked down several electrical lines and a power pole on Highway 96 North near Little Devine Road outside of Selma.
According to the NC Highway Patrol, the driver of the dump truck left his home nearby and didn’t realize the dump bed on the truck was up. The truck knocked down the main power lines and also pulled down an electrical line going to one house. A nearby convenience store and Dollar General were without power for several hours.
The NC DOT shut down the roadway until repairs could be completed by Pike Electric and Duke Energy. No injuries were reported.
