A Kenly man is facing charges after police said he was driving drunk with a small child in his car.
Jerry Garfield Pender, 39, of Moore Street, was arrested by Smithfield Police during a traffic stop in the parking lot of Wal-Mart around 12:22 AM Saturday.
Police Captain R.K. Powell said Pender registered 0.13 on the Breathalyzer, above the legal limit of 0.08. Pender was cited for DWI, driving on a revoked license and child abuse. He was given an $11,000 bond on the charges, and an April 19th court date.
