CLAYTON – An Eagle Court of Honor was held on September 24 for Jaden Christopher DeLucia of Clayton. Jaden is the son of Anthony and Faith DeLucia.
At the age of seven, Jaden joined the Cub Scouts as a member of Pack 421 of Archer Lodge. Later, he joined Trooper 421 and earned all of his cub scout ranks, in 2019 his Arrow of Light.
Jaden has been leading scouts since joining Troop 421 as Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, Scribe, Quartermaster, Patrol Leader and Assistant Patrol Leader.
Jaden earned his Ordeal and Brotherhood in the Order of the Arrow at Nayawin RaR Lodge in the Tuscarora Council. Jaden is currently in the 10th grade at Corinth Holders High School. He performed 120 volunteer hours during his four years as a Boy Scout.
Jaden has participated in Wreaths Across America, Brown Bag Ministries at St. Eugene Catholic Church, Wood for Warriors, The Big Sweep at Blue Jay Point, and various activities at Archer Lodge Community Center, Jordan Lake and the Triangle Land Conservancy.
In June, he earned the 50 Miler Award, for canoeing 63 miles, on the James River in Virginia, plus the National Outdoor Award for Camping.
Jaden’s Eagle project was making Buddy Benches for East Clayton Elementary School. Jaden said his hope is that students who need someone to talk to or play with would utilize the bench and another student would heed the silent call for a friend.
During his Eagle Scout Court of Honor, Jaden was presented with an Eagle Scout Good Citizenship Award from Eagle Scout Coordinator and detachment Adjutant Bob Long.
Jaden has accomplished a lot, at just 15 years of age.
Congratulations, young man, for walking the path less taken! You are most definitely on your way to a fruitful, fulfilling life ahead. The best leaders at every level of our country are Eagle Scouts. Keep up the good work!!
