The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office has ruled a shooting early this morning as accidental.
Authorities responded to a home in the Lancaster Place subdivision off Cleveland Road near I-40 around 1:00am today (Friday). First responders found a 69 year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg.
Deputies said the victim was holding his pistol, which he thought was unloaded, when it discharged.
The man was taken to the hospital for treatment of a non-life threatening wound. No charges will be filed.
