As churches went “viral” with internet services on Sunday, one Clayton church invited worshipers to their parking lot for a “drive-in” Easter service. Attendees were told they were not permitted to exit their cars to greet others but dozens of cars and trucks lined the parking lot of Fellowship Baptist Church in Clayton to an outdoor Easter celebration Sunday morning.
Instead of the traditional “amen” from the congregation, listeners responded to the Bible preaching with blasts from their horns.
The church broadcast the service over their radio station so the parking lot visitors could just tune in to the station to hear the service live. The service was also broadcast over the internet.
Dr. Jon Jenkins, Senior pastor, received advance clearance from both Johnston County and Town of Clayton leaders for the special service. Vehicles were spaced at least 6 feet apart.
