Elderly Couple Killed In Head-On Collision

DUNN – An elderly couple is dead after a two vehicle accident not far from their home in Harnett County.

The crash happened at 4:08pm Thursday on Fairground Road at Three Bridge Road near Dunn.

The State Highway Patrol said a blue 2025 Chevrolet Trax was traveling northbound and a silver 2019 Toyota SUV was traveling southbound on Fairground Road when the vehicles collided head-on.

The driver of the Chevrolet, 74 year-old Syble Teresa Walters and her husband, a passenger, 75 year-old Michael Walters, both of Fairground Road, Dunn died from their injuries. Both were wearing seat belts.

The driver of the Toyota, Kayla Rose Williams, 22, of Holly Avenue, Dunn received minor injuries and was transported to the hospital. Williams was wearing a seat belt. Two young children in the Toyota were properly restrained and not injured.

State Highway Patrol Sgt. N.M. Oxendine said impairment is not suspected for either driver and the collision remains under active investigation.
