Emergency Crews Respond After Car Strikes Lowe’s Foods Building

CLAYTON, N.C. — Emergency crews responded Friday after a vehicle crashed into a brick column outside a grocery store in Clayton. The crash happened at Lowe’s Foods on U.S. 70.

Clayton Police Department, Clayton Fire Department and Johnston County EMS responded to the scene.

Officials reported minor injuries. Authorities have not said what caused the crash, and the incident remains under investigation by Clayton Police.

The crash occurred at the same location where a fatal accident happened in May 2025. In that incident, 52-year-old Lowe’s Foods employee was struck by an SUV while collecting shopping carts in the parking lot.
