Police in Benson have released grainy video images of a suspect who robbed the Subway Restaurant at gunpoint. It happened at 9:37pm Wednesday at the business, located at 701 East Church Street.
An unknown black male entered the Subway armed with what appeared to be a small caliber handgun. The suspect demanded money from the cash register. While emptying the cash from the register, one employee physically engaged the suspect and was able to chase him from the building. However the gunman made away with an undisclosed amount of cash.
The employee who confronted the robbery sustained a minor facial injury. Police Chief Kenneth Edwards said no shots were fired during the incident.
Police, using a canine team, searched the surrounding area but were unable to locate the suspect or any witnesses.
The suspect is described as a small-framed black male, 5 foot 10, wearing a blue-gray Abercrombie & Fitch hooded jacket, gray gloves, black shirt, black baggy pants, and a black toboggan.
