Employee Killed Inside Johnston County Business

JOHNSTON COUNTY – An employee at a Johnston County business was killed while at work. Just after 5:00pm today (Friday), the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office and Johnston County EMS responded to Murphy Express on Highway 42 near Interstate 40 in the Cleveland community.

An employee was reportedly involved in an altercation with an unknown person in or near the bathroom area inside Murphy Express and was killed. The suspect fled from the scene but was later arrested.

There was a second employee inside the business at the time of the incident.

Initial reports indicate the victim was fatally stabbed.

Multiple law enforcement officers responded to the scene.

  1. Shooting in Lumberton Walmart, stabbing at Clayton Walmart (Murphy) shooting in Virginia Walmart. We need to ban Walmart.

    • Clearly the article states that it happened at a gas station…Walmart has nothing to do with people being evil “Captain Obvious”.

    • (Walmart) has NOTHING to do with these events!! It IS criminal activity or mentally unstable PEOPLE commiting these acts!!
      One event wasn’t even AT Walmart, just near it!!
      Gezzzz..I guess if stuff like this happened on or near your property..YOU should be banned!!??

  2. Between this, the shooting at the vape store, and food lion as of recent, seems to me I might as well be raising my kids in Durham County.
