Ex-Wife Charged With Murder

BENSON – The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office has made a second arrest in the homicide of a 70 year-old Benson man. The body of James Dwight Peacock was found inside his home, June 15, at 1621 NC Highway 27 West, just outside the Benson city limits. He died from an apparent gunshot wound.

On June 22, Peacock’s former step-son, Wesley Alexander Jones, 25, of Fayetteville was arrested and charged with his murder.

On July 21, Vickie Katanyan Peacock, 55, of Fayetteville was also charged with murder. Peacock is the ex-wife of the victim and the mother of Wesley Jones.

Sheriff’s Captain Jeff Caldwell did not release a motive for the homicide.

According to a search warrant, money was missing from the victim’s money clip.

The investigation remains ongoing. No additional information has been released.
