The Town of Clayton has agreed to expand their Facade Grant Program.
The program helps businesses improve the appearance of building façades in the downtown and commercial corridor along US 70. The program provides an incentive to Clayton property owners to make investments and improvements to the building facades so that after the work has been completed the public will noticed the appearance improvements.
This month, the Clayton Town Council expanded the grant program for downtown businesses to undertake certain non-facade improvements including parking, lighting, landscaping, accessibility, canopies, brick or wall cleaning, window and railing repair, decks and signage. Previously, the grant provided only funds for those improvements to businesses along the US 70 corridor.
Planning Director David DeYoung said the grant provides a reimbursement of up to a 50 percent match and a maximum of $5,000 per year per facade. In return, the property owners must agree to maintain the improvements for three years or until the property is sold. Photo by John Payne
