A family’s pet Chihuahua was killed after being attacked by two dogs. Smithfield Police and Animal Control are now investigating.
The 72 year-old victim said his Chihuahua was killed May 14th outside his home on Franklin Drive, off S. Brightleaf Boulevard. The victim said two dogs running loose in the neighborhood attacked and killed his pet.
Police Chief Keith Powell said the owners of the two dogs have been located and identified. Chief Powell said they are attempting to work out a settlement with the victim. In the meanwhile, police and animal control are working to determine if any animal control ordinances were broken.
