Homeowner Reports $10,000 In Cash Missing

A Kenly area resident says someone stole $10,000 from his home.  The alleged theft occurred Sunday afternoon.

The 62 year-old victim said he left his home, on Highway 222 West of Kenly, around 4:30pm to go to the store. When he returned at 7:25pm he noticed the money, which he had hidden inside his house, was missing.

The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office is treating the case as a burglary and has assigned a detective to investigate.   Authorities are following up on some leads and don’t believe the incident was random.
