A stretch of Highway 701 in southern Johnston County was closed for several hours Monday afternoon after a tractor trailer overturned.
The accident happened around Noon near the intersection with Barefoot Road, just north of Newton Grove.
The truck, carrying wheat from a farm near Clinton, overturned spilling its cargo in the roadway. Crews had to shut down the roadway and the Department of Transportation set up a detour until the wreckage could be removed and the spilled wheat cleaned up.
The Highway Patrol said the driver was cited. There were no injuries. Photos by John Payne
