SUV Crashes Into House

Three people were injured after an SUV ran off Highway 42 West of Clayton Monday night and crashed into a house.

No one was inside the home at the time of the accident. Reports indicate the driver was trying to pass an ambulance when he lost control and ran off the roadway colliding with the house.  Speed may have been a factor. The driver and two passengers received minor injuries.

The NC Highway Patrol is investigating the accident and says charges are pending.

Clayton fire crews responded to the scene to contain a gas leak from the SUV. Clayton Police, the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office, and Johnston County EMS crews also responded.

The Red Cross responded to assist the family, whose home was left uninhabitable.
