A fire Sunday morning damaged a lot of property but firefighters were able to save a family’s home.
The fire was reported around 12:30 AM at 745 Morgan Road near Benson.
Firefighters from three Johnston County departments responded to the scene and found two outside buildings, a small playhouse, a car, boat and two huge trees ablaze.
The fire was quickly spreading and the nearby house had already sustained melted vinyl siding from the intense heat.
Benson, Blackman’s Crossroads and Meadow fire crews prevented the fire from spreading any closer to the residence. Luckily there were no injuries.
Johnston County fire investigators said the fire does not appear suspicious. Photos by John Payne
