MEADOW – A large farm equipment building was heavily damaged by fire, Thursday evening. The fire was reported on Godwin Lake Road in the Meadow community in southern Johnston County.
Firefighters from Meadow, Benson, Blackman’s Crossroads and Plain View Fire Departments responded and quickly extinguished the flames.
Officials said a two-ton truck inside the building was being repaired when it caught fire. Some farm equipment and commodities inside the building were damaged as the fire spread, however the structure was saved due to the coordinated response by the fire departments.
Johnston County EMS stood by at the scene. No injuries were reported.
