BENSON – A fire early Sunday morning destroyed a building at Smith’s Nursery and Produce Farm at 443 Sanders Road.
Fire units arrived to find the building fully engulfed in flames with a portion of the roof collapsed.
According to Smith’s Nursery social media page, the fire destroyed a barn which contained all of their farm equipment, warehouse, and offices. They plan to focus on cleaning up and hope to have retail operators back open within the next few days.
The building is a total loss.
The Johnston County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
Fire units from three different counties responded to the scene.

Sad, I love this place. We take our grandkids here every year to pick strawberries. I hope the family will be ok and rebuild.
