Fire Destroys Princeton Home

PRINCETON – Firefighters from multiple departments responded Thursday to a doublewide mobile home fire on Gurley’s Mill Road in Princeton.
Johnston County 911 received a call from a neighbor walking her dog who noticed flames at 810 Gurley’s Mill Road and dialed for help.
Fire crews from Princeton, Pine Level, Brogden and Oakland responded to the scene.
No one was home at the time of the fire. Firefighters located one dog inside the house and brought it out, but despite CPR efforts by first responders, the animal did not survive.
The Johnston County Fire Marshal’s Office investigated the blaze and determined the fire started on the screened porch at the rear of the home. Due to the extensive damage, the exact cause could not be determined, according to Fire Marshal Travis Johnson.
