SMITHFIELD – A fire destroyed a home in West Smithfield early Wednesday morning.
The fire was reported about 4:30am on Longview Drive. Working smoke detectors alerted Anthony and Teresa Lynn that their home of 18 years was on fire.
The couple worked together to get Teresa’s mother out of the house, according to ABC11. She has Alzheimer’s disease and her room was upstairs.
The Lynns went to the hospital for evaluation but were released a few hours later. They returned to their heavily damaged home to try and salvage pictures and other personal mementos.
They told ABC11 they have the support of family and friends that will get them through the loss of their home. Tragically it comes a week before Thanksgiving.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
