PLAIN VIEW – Firefighters battled a blaze that burned through a home on Lee’s Chapel Church Road in the Plain View area of Dunn Thursday afternoon. The fire killed four dogs, and displaced two adults and a child.
Rescue crews responded to the scene around 2:40 p.m. and found heavy smoke and flames coming from a doublewide home in the 3000 block of Lee’s Chapel Church Road, near Savannah Hill Road.
Sampson County 911 received a call from a mail carrier who noticed the home was on fire and reported that one person was outside with a garden hose attempting to extinguish it.
Plain View Fire Chief K. Jackson was the first to arrive on the scene and reported 75 percent of the house was involved in the fire.
Units were quickly dispatched from across three counties to battle the blaze.
Sampson County Fire Marshal Prentice Madgar is conducting the investigation into the fire.
Responding units included Plain View Fire-Rescue, Spivey’s Corner Volunteer Fire Department, Newton Grove Fire & Rescue, Sampson County EMS, Sampson County Sheriff’s Office, Sampson County Fire Marshal, Meadow Fire Department, and Dunn Emergency Services.
