An Archer Lodge fire truck being transported back to the Fire Station on Covered Bridge Road suddenly burst into flames when stopped at the intersection of Highway 42 East and Buffalo Road this afternoon.
Thanksgiving Fire Department firefighters quickly arrived and extinguished the fire but not before the truck suffered major damage.

Johnston County fire investigators were on the scene to determine the cause of the engine compartment fire. There were no injuries.
The truck was thought to be damaged beyond repair.
