Firearms Among Items Stolen In String Of Vehicle Break-Ins
SMITHFIELD — The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a string of vehicle break-ins that left a dozen cars entered in a residential area near Smithfield.
Deputies said the incidents occurred during the early morning hours of Feb. 20 along Harris Road and Lee Trace Drive, off Cleveland Road.
According to investigators, 12 vehicles were targeted. While many of the vehicles were left unlocked, several had windows shattered in order to gain entry.



Among the items reported stolen were two firearms, authorities said.
The sheriff’s office has released surveillance images showing one of the suspects inside a vehicle during the break-ins. Officials believe at least three individuals were involved.
